Cape San Blas was named #1 in the US in 2002 by Dr. Beach.  It's only 20 miles from the Dixie Belle.  Just 1/4 mile from our door you have access to 10 miles of beautiful beaches which rival those of the Cape. 

This part of the Gulf Coast is still relatively undeveloped.  You don't have to pick your way through a gazillion people to get a spot on the sand.  (Coming from NJ this turned out to be a major treat)

Anyway, all this and more is right around the corner from the Dixie Belle.  Snorkling & scuba diving, canoeing  & kayaking, hunting,, golf, fine regional dining, shopping for unique treasures, just to name a few.

Florida's first state constitution was forged right here in Port St Joe.  You can visit the museum downtown.  (I took my grandkids & they liked it!)  Speaking of downtown, Reid St., the main street, has recently undergone a face lift with brick walkways, wrought iron street lamps and palm trees.  Several new businesses have opened there in recent months.

There are several fishing guide services, a local park with free boat ramps, a brand new marina with a charming restaurant serving lunch and dinner, a new supermarket, & pretty much the all basic services you may need.

Restaurants are plentiful & many offer waterfront views of St Joseph Bay. 

One thing you can't miss is St. Joseph Peninsula State Park.  Located on Cape San Blas, it offers fishing, snorkeling, swimming, nature trails, camping, boat launches, picnic areas & more.  The park is a beautiful 20 minute drive from the Dixie Belle.

The Port St Joe/Gulf County area is a special & romantic place for lovers too.  Our guests have celebrated weddings, anniversaries and other special occasions.

email from Travis C.   I recently stayed at your motel, last Thursday through Sunday.  I have to say that we enjoyed the trip very much.  Staying at your motel made the trip even better.  Last year we stayed at St. Joseph State Park and camped in a tent.  We had a good trip last year but this was a much welcomed change from what we did last year, and overall, didn't cost much more.  Your location put us right where we needed to be to catch fish.  The fish cleaning station helped tremendously along with being able to store our fish in a freezer.  Dad & I, non-smokers, stayed in a smoking room but couldn't tell it.  The rooms were very clean and offered 4 fishermen just what they needed:  access to the fish and a good place to rest and sleep.  Thanks for all of your help and hospitality.  This was my dad's first trip to Port St. Joe and your accomodations made the trip even better.  I will definitely look you up the next time that I visit Port St. Joe.
